Bilateral Gynecomastia is a very common cause of chest swelling in teenage groups or young males. Most of the time its cause is unknown. Some common causes are a hormonal disturbance, and prolonged use of certain medications. Because of this, the chest is filled up with fat and fibrous glandular tissues and this condition is usually resistant to medication or workouts, therefore Surgery is the best option for treatment. At Pushp Super specialty clinic, plastic surgeon, Dr. Sandeep Naphadeoffers Bilateral Gynacomastia treatment
Two types of surgery may be helpful depending upon the content of swelling
In liposuction, fat is melted and sucked out via a small metal canulla and no stitches or major scar mark present.
Gland excision is also called subcutaneous mastectomy. A small cut is given for access and swelling is cored out. This cut can be along the lower portion of pigmented skin ie areola or through the nipple. cirumareolar scar may have some visibility, but the trans nipple approach is almost scarless.
Surgery is done under general anesthesia or regional block.
Hospital stay is one or two days depending upon individual pain threshold.
Post surgery, patient needs to wear pressure garments for one month this help skin to drape over the chest without any crease .chances of recurrence are very rare.
